Grading the NBA Draft: Atlantic Division

Kansas Jayhawks forward Thomas Robinson (R) and guard Tyshawn Taylor (10) celebrate their victory over the North CarolinaTar Heels in the men's NCAA Midwest Regional basketball game in St. Louis

After Eli Friedman wrapped up the Western Conference draft grades a few days ago, I’m here to bring you my perspective on the East. I’ll start off with the Atlantic division, where lottery picks were rare and international players prospered. Boston Celtics: Having to play Kevin Garnett at the center position for the majority of season and all the while actually having to give Ryan Hollins a few minutes in the playoffs, Danny Ainge knew the Celtics needed a lot… Continue reading »

Grading the NBA Draft: Southwest Division

Austin+Rivers+New+Orleans+Hornets+Introduce+HJfvS6W4Z1kl

The Southwest division will be the most balanced division in the league next year. With the Spurs, Mavs, and Grizzlies all making it to playoffs last year, the Hornets and Rockets both got the pieces in this years draft to make a run at the playoffs. Here are my grades for the teams in the Southwest division in the 2012 NBA Draft: Dallas Mavericks Draft Picks: Jared Cunningham- Oregon St. 6’5 PG/SG, Benard James- Florida State 6-10 C, Jae Crowder- Marquette 6’6 SF Grade:… Continue reading »

Grading the NBA Draft: Northwest Division

2012 NBA Draft

After looking at the Pacific division yesterday, we now take a look at the Northwest division. The Oklahoma City Thunder won this division last year, as well as the year before. Here is how the crew at Hoopstradamus graded the Northwest division: Denver Nuggets Draft Picks: Evan Fournier- France 6’6 SG, Quincy Miller-Baylor 6’10 F, and Izzet Turkyilmaz-Turkey 7’0 PF/C Grade: C Reason: Masai Ujiri didn’t do a good job in this year’s draft. Fournier averaged 14 points overseas, which means he might average 5… Continue reading »

With free-agency in full swing, we’re taking you back to last weeks NBA Draft. Starting off with the Pacific division, the crew at Hoopstradamus will be grading each team with a pick in this year’s draft.   Golden State Warriors Draft Picks: Harrison Barnes- UNC 6’8 SF, Festus Fzeli- Vanderbilt 6’11 PF/C, Draymond Green- Michigan State 6’7 PF Grade: A- Reason:  Golden State was the perfect fit for a guy like Harrison Barnes. He can score the ball and create… Continue reading »

2012 NBA Draft: The Thunder select Perry Jones III at Number 28

NCAA Basketball: Division I Championship-Baylor vs Kentucky

Who would have thought that a lottery talent would have fallen all the way to 28? It was a gift. Perhaps Perry Jones III fell down to 28 because of his health concerns as he was medically red flagged prior to the draft, and that might have been the reason teams passed on him.  The 6’11 forward averaged 13.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists last year at Baylor. Other great prospects were on the board, such as Draymond Green, Quincy Miller, and Jeff Taylor but… Continue reading »

NBA Draft: The Thunder’s Top 3 Picks at Number 28

uspw_6131790

With Sam Presti, you never know who the Thunder will draft. I don’t think anybody had Reggie Jackson on the Thunder’s list last year. All 30 teams might move up, down, or stay at their pick in this years draft. Here are my top 3 possible picks for the Thunder at 28: Quincy Miller- Baylor 6’10 SF/PF Royce White- Iowa State 6’8 PF Draymond Green- Michigan State 6’8 PF

Bustin’ My Bulls: The Pick or The Player?

With the NBA Draft just days away, trade rumours are buzzing all around Chicago and almost all of them involve trading Luol Deng for a lottery pick. We all know what the craziness of draft night entails. Last year the Bulls – predictably – came out pretty untouched. This year, things are looking different as the front office seems to be much more involved. I’m here to tell you guys why the Bulls need to get in on some of… Continue reading »
